Days 11-16

Day 11- Someone was lost on my campus and I gave them directions on how to take a quick tour.

Day 12- I actually went on a date today. After my date I went over to a friend's place and let her vent about her life.

Day 13-I worked today and I am definitely going to have to say that translating for a homeless women who had 10 teeth removed was definitely the highlight of my day in terms of good deeds.

Day 14- I volunteered as a judge at the youth court tonight and I am almost positive that I effected change in one young person's life.

Day 15- I volunteered to go to the Chinese food restaurant with my father to pick up the Chinese food my family ordered for a great family dinner.

Day16- I went to volunteer at youth court again and helped train a bunch of the new attorneys for the program.

I can't believe that I am still doing this actually. I am proud that I have been able to keep this up this long....hopefully I don't slow down now.

Days 7-10

Day 7- On Tuesday I had my clinical at Boston Children's Hospital and again had quite a few opportunities to do something that was a good deed. However, I am going to focus on the little one that I can remember. I held the elevator door for a woman and then helped her find the floor she was going to in order to see her sick child. It was a small deed, but for some reason the one that I think I did particularly because it was Lent.

Day 8- On Wednesday I spent the day working at the Cambridge Needle Exchange. There were a lot of things, just by the nature of the job that I could say I completed, but I am thinking of one thing I did in particular. One of the phlebotomists was confronted with a slight problem. A man who use to beat her came in for treatment and to get his blood drawn. She obviously did not want to be confronted by that man so I instead took over for her and drew the man's blood and finished all of his lab work. Again it was something very small, but the amount of stress I could see the phlebotomist under I knew I was helping her. Additionally, I helped the man who use to beat her by providing a needed set of labs so he could find out his hepatitis C and his HIV status.

Day 9- Thursday I went to dinner with a friend who just needed someone to talk to. I had already had dinner and wasn't really looking to go, but I could tell she needed to get something off of her chest so I went and just let her talk and vent for at least an hour.

Day 10- Friday....my good deed came early in the morning. I was with a friend and noticed some scars on his hands. I asked about them and continued to dig for more information. It turns out that my friend has a history of self destructive behaviors and hadn't been talking to anyone. I think more than anything he just needed someone to tell him that it was okay to be himself. So I did and I advised him to make an appointment with a counselor at school. I hope he will get the help that he needs, but I am happy I was able to help him in the instant that he needed someone.

I know it is rough doing a bunch of days together like this but this week I was very busy....so Oh well. Happy Lent!
